Figueira da Foz

Figueira da Foz is a coastal city at the mouth of the Mondego river, in the Coimbra district. Its urban beach, Praia da Claridade, stretches for several kilometres alongside the historic centre and the seafront avenue. The city developed as a seaside resort from the 19th century, attracting summer visitors from central Portugal and Spain. Besides the beach, it has a fishing port, a marina and a nearby hill, the Serra da Boa Viagem, to the north.
