Belmonte
Its castle was part of the Alto Côa defensive line but Belmonte almost gets mixed up with its Jewish community.
The Jews have settled in Belmonte in the 13th century, resisted the Inquisition, became Crypto-Jews and, centuries later, by the end of the 20th century, built the Synagogue.
