Rescuing the lost sounds while keeping them alive in the minds of those who have never heard them or didn’t even think they existed. Starting with the great sound of silence. Ending in the creation of brand new sounds. This is the very essence of Binaural.

Nodar Rural Art Lab is program of in-situ creative labs in sound art developed in connection with landscapes and communities of the Gralheira Mountain Range, namely the rural community of Nodar, a small village in the center of Portugal, located aproximately 150 km from Oporto and 350 km from Lisbon.

Binaural/Nodar organizes in April and October 2014 an Artist Residency Program in Sound and Intermedia Arts dealing with the theme of rural mobility.

Binaural/Nodar’s artist resdiency program in sound and intermedia arts for 2014 will specifically focus on the ancestral and contemporary aspects of mobility in the rural areas of Montemuro, Arada and Gralheira mountains, by hosting artists’ field work together with communities and landscapes and innovative uses of audiovisual technologies, and interactive communication, to contribute to the debate on the new directions of rural mobility
